Hokkaido Honeymoon
I haven't got a time to write a detailed blog for my Hokkaido trip… Well, I actually got the time as I am quite free in the office these days around the year end, but it takes too much effort to describe every single detail with my fading memory. However the happy memories are going to stay in my mind… I realized that Bon is a very well-planner, he plans every single detail.
Well I know this long before our marriage, but during the honeymoon trip the extent of information that he prepared for every sight was so accurate, so we did not miss anything or waited for any long hours through the nine days trip. He is an excellent planner. I am also a kind of planning person, but not that detailed as he does. I still allow some kind of uncertainties and surprises happening, which would make life more interesting, expecting, and sometimes, of course, some disappointing. But this is fine, I have Bon being my best planner (and he enjoys playing this role I suppose),
I would be able to do things in some different ways, having more varieties. I hope we could affect each other and cooperate in a good way. We had a wonderful honeymoon.. Bon and I rented a Honda Airwave and we drove at Hokkaido . The weather was good – heavily snowing on the first few days that impressed us a lot as people living in a hot city like Hong King; and then fine blue sky on the following days. Only one night we had a light shower but it was fine at all. I also experienced driving for prolonged hours there, most of the time it was kind of easy to drive at the countryside and highways since I didn’t need to care about the traffic too much. Bon had to read the map and show me the way so it was me driving most of the time.
The first day we got the car was the biggest challenge to me: fairly new to driving, new places and roads in the dark, and the worst, heavy snow along with very strong wind. I could hardly see the driving lane, my eye sight was only about 10 feets ahead of the car front and the snow kept hitting the front glass like I was driving into a storm! The roads were all covered with snow and my car was a little bit sliding on them even we were using snow tires. We mainly relied on the GPS built-in in the car to find our paths. It showed us a way to ?? which had no charge, but it was a dangerous one. It was winter so the sky gets dark at 4pm. Most part of the roads there was no street lamp, I guess because the area was too remote and they did not provide such good infrastructure for such long distance, you know, from one town to the next. So it was complete darkness, only my dim front lights and some of the other cars too. Out of my surprise, many local people were speeding as they knew the way so well and they all wanted to get to their destinations as early as possible. So you may imagine how nervous I was being the driver, and how tensed were the passenger sitting next to me – my newly wedded husband! Although it was dangerous for driving, the snow scene was still so beautiful.. I once saw it snowing in Tokyo but this time it was so heavy like it was already in December.
Houses were all covered by thick white snow and some local people told us it was very rare to have snow like this in November – good for us as we were so expecting to see the snow! We have taken so many beautiful pictures with Bon's new carema stand, they are just like postcards but got our happy faces on them. We are sharing our joy with friends and they all say we look very sweet! Haha, yes, we are! And we will be the same ever!
